Our family at bar mitzvah, November 2015
Much of this site is dedicated to genealogy research that I have been doing since 1991. While I have amassed a large amount of data about the family, I felt that I haven’t captured enough of the stories. The blog on this site is part of the solution. This blog will contain stories from my own life and will feature ones as told by others and from those that have been told to me. I will also go into further detail about family records and artifacts that I have come across.
The latest posts will always be available at www.richler.net/blog
Neil,
Seems like your family is grown up.
Hope that all is well with you and your family.
Who do you use to host richler.net?

I have a friend in Mtl Alain Dufour whose daughter Annick says she dated a Jonathan Richler 20 years ago. I know it’s not my first cousin Jonathan and whebn I google “Jonathan Richler” I get another variety, namely a Yoni Richler who lives in Nfld. Is this Avrum’s progeny?
Howard
I will ask my son, Jonathan, if he is the Jonathan who dated this lady.
Jonathan goes by Yoni in NL. I am his sister. Can’t say I recall an Annick but I guess anything is possible!
Hello,
My late mother, Ilene Richler Yess, was interviewed in Toronto a few years back by Howard Richler. I believe that her late father, Wolfe Richler, was a brother of Mordecai Richler’s father. I would love to meet Howard Richler to find out more about the Richler family. I am an academic editor and writer and live in downtown Montreal. This email was prompted by my having met a woman at an art exhibition recently whose married name is was Deitcher.

My father Moses Isaac Richler did not have a brother Wolfe.
Wolf was a brother to Sam and Jacob thus your fathers uncle.
Hi, I had noticed on the family tree that it includes the names Princess Astrid of Sweden and King of Belgium Leopold as well as their descendants. I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on how or in what way they are related to the Richler family?
Paul Druker was briefly married to the princess of Belgium in 1981.
Hi Neil,
I’m in Israel Rich now and want to contact Benjy Richler in relation to an article I’m writing. Would you happen to have his email? You can also respond to my email -hrichler@gmail.com

Hi.
I’m looking for Shelley Medigorsky – she’s listed on your geneology page (I did a Google search on her name).
If it’s the same person, she went on a tour of Israel in 1968 with a group of teenagers, called the Israel Summer Institute. We’re looking for all the members of the group to get in touch, 50 years after we had that experience. Can you help me locate her?

Hi Neil,
Saw the picture of the Lessers. I knew we were related through my grandmother, but it was interesting to see the picture of the sister who passed before the use of insulin.
I would like to be able to have access to the site to see what my father passed on to you. Would you send me a password.
Thanks.
Hi. Searched your tree for 5 or 6 surnames from my family’s history. Got nothing, but Ancestry did connect us in some way. Names are Berlant, Kovensky, Dubin(sky), Fogelbaum, Steinschneider, Kuperman, Lipstatov. Anything familiar or could you point me? Thanks. Mark Berlant
I’m reading a novel called Apeirogon by Colum McCann that was longlisted for this year’s Booker. It takes place in Israel and is a blend of fact and fiction. One of the minor characters in the book is called Moti Richler and it mentions that he was aveteran of the War of Independence. I suspect this character is fictional. Can you confirm this?
Hi Neil,
I’d like to speak with you some time about both getting a copy of the family tree and also finding out about the Veinish end of the family.
Thanks,
Barry Gross
